About Carissa New
Carissa had the blessing of growing up as a preacher’s kid and in a home that introduced the Bible and the need for Jesus Christ as her Savior at an early age. She accepted Christ at the age of five and then surrendered to missions/ministry at the age of 12. Carissa continued to grow in the Lord and be involved in church through her junior high, high school and college days.
In September of 2001, Carissa had the opportunity to work for the Special School District in St. Louis, MO. While at the SSD she was trained as an Applied Behavior Analysis Therapist working with children with autism. In September of 2002, she had the opportunity to move to Bermuda to work with a family with three autistic children. While in Bermuda she met her husband Graeme, and they were married December 6, 2003. They are blessed with two children; Zoe age 13, and Jackson age 10.
Graeme and Carissa began attending Riverview in April of 2004. Carissa was still waiting on God to reveal to her, her calling in ministry. When she was asked to be the preschool director in 2009, she knew that it was what God had called her to do. During her 5 years of preschool ministry God continued to shape her passion and give her a vision for a children’s ministry at Riverview. She was hired as the Children’s Minister in September of 2014.
Carissa has a passion to see children come to the saving power of Jesus Christ. She believes that it is the church’s job to partner, support, and encourage parents to disciple their children toward a lasting relationship with Him.
